The Sustainable Sidmouth Champions Awards 2023 were the third awards project from the Vision Group for Sidmouth.

What were the Champions Awards 2023 about?

The Sustainable Sidmouth Champions Awards 2023 were about highlighting how we can ‘Make Do And Mend’ as a positive way to not only manage the current difficult times – but also to contribute positively to the future of the Sid Valley.

The Champions Awards 2023 were about inspiring us to save some money, in our families and communities – and to help ‘save the planet’ in whatever small, local ways we can: What is ‘make do and mend’ – and what can we do to help save some money?

The Champions Awards 2023 were about demonstrating what we can do to help ‘save the planet’ in some small, local way: What is ‘sustainability’ – and how can we help the environment?

The Champions Awards 2023 were about promoting the idea of transitioning to a more sustainable lifestyle: What is Sustainable Sidmouth – and how can the Transition Town movement help?

And the Champions Awards 2023 were about encouraging individuals, organisations and businesses to think in terms of a less wasteful economy: What is the Circular Economy – and how can it help businesses become more sustainable?

What were the categories for the Champions Awards 2023?

There were four specific Awards, for four different types of organisations and people – with ideas on what each category can do to ‘save money and save the planet’:

• Groups and organisations Award
  • What groups and organisations can do to SAVE MONEY SAVE THE PLANET
• Schools and educational organisations Award
  • What schools and other educational organisations can do to ‘SAVE MONEY: SAVE THE PLANET’
• Businesses Award
  • What businesses can do to ‘SAVE MONEY: SAVE THE PLANET’

The Champions Award 2023: details:

The judging criteria for the Citizen’s Award 2023 were:

• The activity must have taken place from 5th November 2022 and can still be ongoing.
• There must be some sort of impact from the activity, with clear results and a real difference made.
