The new Youth Hub is launched by Y@S!

Up until eighteen months ago, we had a very active Sidmouth Youth Centre – but because of the inadequate state of the building the decision was made to close down the Manstone centre last summer.

Thoughts turned to replacing Manstone Youth Centre – but in the meantime, the Town Council is still very keen to keep the Sidmouth Youth Club going and has launched the new Youth@Sidmouth project:

Sidmouth’s young people will have a new youth service from September, branded Y@S (youth @ sidmouth). Following a two year thorough review of services, driven by the needs and wants of young people in the valley, Sidmouth Town Council are launching a new youth service.

Open access sessions run by a partnership with the Sidmouth International School will start at the ‘Old Exchange’ building in the town centre next week. Running from 5 – 7pm with 11-14 years on Tuesdays and 15-17 years on Wednesdays…

Cllr Rachel Perram, Chair of Youth Provision said “We are so excited to be launching Y@S. Everything we do is being driven by our young people. 80% of respondents to our large survey told us that they wanted a safe, warm indoor space in which to relax and socialise with their friends – particularly during winter months. We believe that this building, which was purpose made for young people will be perfect and we can’t wait to welcome you.”

The first session is this evening!
