These pages have praised the work of the East Devon Countryside Team and of the Sid Valley Biodiversity Group.
As for other key champions of local wildlife, we can recall when The Devon Wildlife Trust visited “the wonderful Glen Goyle” back in the summer of 2024 – when the Wilder Communities Team Leader at the DWT was very helpful in terms of suggesting sites for bat and owl boxes, hedgehog runs, bug hotels and more.
For a short while longer, the Devon Wildlife Trust is offering half-price membership. And in the meantime, its excellent website offers all sorts, including how to take Actions for wildlife. Their Facebook are very active and their regular newsletters allow you to keep up to date with Devon’s wildlife.
Here are a couple of choice items from the DWT’s latest newsletter – starting with one of their member’s stunning photos:

Hello there!
Did you catch a glimpse of the auroras in Devon recently? Lots of lucky people spotted them dancing across the sky from their own homes! Our supporters and staff shared incredible images of the phenomenon, mostly taken in the Newton Abbot and Totnes areas. The natural world always finds ways to surprise and delight us!
Don’t forget: our half-price membership offer ends soon! Claim this offer today to become a DWT member for just £1.75 per month (usually £3.50) and help us restore Devon’s wildlife in 2026.
Wild at Home
In the spring, birds will choose the best locations to build nests, so why not offer them a safe place to settle? Blackbirds start building in February.
Read our guide on how to provide bushes for nesting birds. Now is the ideal time to get planting native trees, hedges and large shrub.
Thank you to the Devon Wildlife Trust: real champions for Devon’s wildlife!
