First ever ‘King’s Award for Enterprise’ for Sustainable Development

For some time now, it’s been recognised that lots of Devon and Cornwall businesses are doing their bit to save the planet – for example:

The Plymouth-based sole trader locksmith Paul Bushell believes businesses have an obligation to be green and help the environment. He recycles all rubbish generated by his business and cash made from recycling goes to charity. He prefers to repair and sell old safes rather than send them to land-fill, and repair locks rather than install new ones.

He’s otherwise known as ‘Sir Smile A Lot!’, because of his enthusiasm, work for charity and help for the environment.

Today, we’ve just had the announcement of the first King’s Awards for Enterprise: 17 South West companies recognised for excellence – and one of those is Paul’s company, Sir Fix-a-lock, receiving the prestigious King’s Award for Enterprise:

Sir Fix-a-lock has been honoured with the first ever King’s Award for Enterprise for Sustainable Development.

Sir Fix-a-lock is one of 252 organisations nationally to be recognised with a prestigious King’s Award for Enterprise and one of only 29 to gain the Sustainable Development category. Announced today, Sir Fix-a-lock has been recognised for its excellence in Sustainable Development. This esteemed recognition highlights the company’s exceptional commitment to sustainability and environmental stewardship.

Congratulations!
