Some very interesting people formed part of the very active Eco Hub Sidmouth meeting today, Tuesday 26th August – as part of the Climate Awareness Partnership Sidmouth.
As well as town councillors and Sidmouth’s MP in attendance, there were members of the public keen to find out more about the Eco Hub and representatives from several groups and initiatives, including the Science Festival, the churches, Sidmouth Cycle Campaign, the VGS, Teignmouth’s Climate Fresk (more anon!) and the Eco Hub Exmouth.
Someone who had travelled from Exeter to be at the session and who very much impressed the attendees was artist Polly Meyrick.
Polly sees “art as a form of journalism” – in that it can tell stories, can engage viewers and readers, and can act as a catalyst.
And she told those of us gathered at today’s meet-up about her most recent project, We Are All People of Power – and showed us her stunning portraits:

2024 Artist Residency at the Regen Art Lab, an interdisciplinary collaboration between Regen’s clean energy experts and UK-based artists. The project, which features a series of framed portraits alongside a short film, celebrates the human stories behind the energy transition and its far-reaching impact on communities.
There’s plenty more at Regen’s own website, on this wonderful Case study: We Are All People of Power with Polly Meyrick:
We Are All People of Power is a striking portrait and film series created by artist Polly Meyrick during her residency with Regen’s Art Lab programme. The project celebrates eight individuals in Devon who are quietly and powerfully shaping the transition to a low-carbon future—through cycling, farming, public engagement, and community energy. Combining hand-drawn ink portraits with recorded interviews, Polly invites viewers to connect with the people behind climate action and see themselves as part of the story.
The accompanying video ‘We are all People of Power’ was a finalist in the Smiley Charity Film Awards this year – and here it is to view:

Congratulations, Polly!
And an inspiring project to share and celebrate!
