Championing the Sidmouth festival scene

Sidmouth is very much a ‘festival town’ – a town of festival champions – celebrating culture and music, science and the great outdoors.

The latest venture is the Sidyfest 2025 set up by the rugby club, promising “Sidmouth’s Festival in a Day” on Saturday 12th July https://www.facebook.com/people/SidyFest/61575957024286/?_rdr

And bringing all the music festivals of the summer together is the New Sidmouth Wallspace artwork celebrating the festival scene:

A new digital art piece celebrating Sidmouth’s festival scene has been unveiled. The vibrant artwork, titled Vibrations in the Valley, is now on display at Sidmouth Wallspace.

From left: Tash Daly (Folk Festival), Coco Hodgkinson (Sea Fest), Tim Clarke (Jazz and Blues Festival), Tara Greifenberg (Sea Fest), Stuart Nairne-Clark (Sidy Fest) and Louise Cole (Sea Fest).

Created by Tara Greifenberg, the piece captures the lively energy and festival atmosphere associated with Sidmouth’s grassroots music movement. The artwork was inspired by the eclectic mix of music staged in the spring and summer months. It celebrates the unique ecosystem for grassroots music in the town.

The project was a four-way collaboration, championed by Sidmouth Sea Fest, with The Sidmouth Folk Festival, Sidmouth International Jazz & Blues Festival, and Sidmouth SidyFest.

Louise Cole, from Sidmouth Coastal Community Hub, which produces Sea Fest, said: “We have an incredible music-based offer here in Sidmouth, important for both a local audience young and older, and for visitors, all contributing to our tourism-based economy, not to mention community wellbeing.”

Sidmouth, then, really is a ‘festival town’. As the initiator of one of the quartet has told the Herald, Sidmouth is the ideal place for a jazz and blues festival.

And next weekend we start off the festival season , with the now annual Sidmouth Sea Fest taking place at Connaught Gardens – with lots and lots of music promised.

Enjoy!
