There are real champions working to improve the services for those with special educational needs and disabilities across Devon.
There’s Sidmouth’s county councillor Denise Bickley, who looks at her role in this week’s Herald as Cabinet member for Children’s Services – SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities).
And there’s also the Champions for Change in Devon – which shows how children and young people can get involved in making their own lives better:
In our meetings, we share our ideas about issues that affect us and help each other make an impact. We meet online or in person once every month during term time. Recent issues and topics have included a campaign to support more schools to recycle food waste and collaboration on a project to ensure more young people from special schools have the option of going into paid employment.
With a report from a couple of months ago on how the Champions continue their push for better transport in Devon.

Plus more from their Facebook pages on the Network for Change.
And a great video from a couple of years ago on the Champions for Change – and how we need to Listen, Hear, Understand.
