It’s the start of the year – and we’re already looking forward to the summer!
This week, the Sidmouth Folk Festival announced the first wave of performers for 2025:
A festival spokesperson said: “Championing traditional folk music and dance over the decades, Sidmouth is also well known and loved for embracing the cutting edge and as a coming of age space where successive generations of musicians find their feet and hone their skills, often starting as buskers along the waterfront.”
Yes, there are many festival champions in Sidmouth – and indeed, it’s very much the case now that Sidmouth is a ‘festival town’.
But of course it’s the Folk Festival which makes Sidmouth so – and in many ways this very special week in August is a trailblazer.
So, when looking at the impact of Sidmouth’s festivals, the biggest of them all is doing what it can to reduce its footprint, with a report on the Environmental Impact from the Sidmouth Folk Festival showcasing what can be done.

With an eye to the future, The Sidmouth Folk Festival aims to reduce the environmental impact of the festival where ever possible. We have signed up to A Greener Future to support our journey, and help measure our impact.
So, yes, the Sidmouth Folk Festival is ‘championing’ much on several levels.
