Showcasing sustainable schools: Newton Pop Primary

It’s quite a view from Mutters Moor, as enthused by our MP:

You just can’t beat going for a walk in East Devon to help blow the cobwebs away. I went on a decent stomp around Mutters Moor near Sidmouth over the weekend and thoroughly recommend it! The views of the town, plus the parish of Newton Poppleford and Harpford, are breathtakingly beautiful.

Recently-appointed wildlife officer Lindi Rich has been developing links with parish councils in the AONB as part of a nature recovery pilot project. Newton Poppleford and Harpford welcomed the opportunity to be involved and the joint activities started with tree planting.

Recycled plastics, newspaper bags and crisp packets replaced silk, fur and linen in a school fashion show. Children of Newton Poppleford Primary School held a fashion show made entirely of reused products to show a new way of recycling.

A local school has found a wonderful way to inspire and fuel the imaginations of its young pupils. Adventure Island was launched at Newton Poppleford Primary School in September and has proven a big hit with all the children of the school from pre-school to year six.
