When it comes to sustainable groups: Sidmouth Brownies & Guides and Sidmouth Scouts have a lot to show.
And, indeed, recently the Sidmouth Scouts lent another helping hand at Sidmouth Cemetery when they cleared large areas to increase biodiversity.
These local groups have been winning accolades.
Firstly, the Girlguiding leaders are to take part in the Sidmouth Swimathon on 14th March:
The volunteers, from across East Devon, will take part in the Sidmouth Rotary Swimathon to raise money for a trip to Switzerland in 2026.
They plan to take 20 Guides, Rangers, and fellow leaders to Our Chalet- one of the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts’ World Centres.
One of the leaders said: “Every donation, big or small, really makes a difference. We’re so grateful for the incredible support from our community.”

The Swimathon will help reduce that financial burden and demonstrate the same resilience they encourage in their units. To support the Swimathon challenge, donations can be made at www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/girlguidingeastdevon.
Meanwhile, in another story, a Sidmouth Scout has been recognised at a Westminster Abbey service
Brian Manwaring, a member of the 1st Sid Vale Scout Group, was recognised for his service to scouting in the Sidmouth area.
He received the Silver Acorn award and was invited to London’s Westminster Abbey for a Thanksgiving Service on Friday, February 20.
More than 1,600 fellow Scout members from across the globe attended the event, making it a memorable day for all.
Congratulations all!
