They have now been shortlisted for the Charity Awards 2025:
The Sidmouth-based charity has been recognised in the Campaigning & Advocacy category for its Stop the Slaughter – End the Donkey Skin Trade campaign.

This campaign aims to end the global slaughter of at least 5.9 million donkeys each year for their skins, which are used in the production of ejiao, a traditional Chinese medicine.
The Donkey Sanctuary, along with its partners and allies, is leading a global movement to protect these animals and the communities that rely on them.

More from the Charity Awards:

Awards judge Martin Edwards, CEO of Julia’s House, said the charity’s campaign had an important environmental impact beyond reducing animal cruelty, “because preserving animals in local families is the most environmentally friendly way of farming”.
