Vision Group for Sidmouth AGM and Sustainable Sidmouth Champions Awards 2025
CELEBRATING THE ECO HUB SIDMOUTH
This year’s Vision Group for Sidmouth AGM will be all about celebrating the work of the Sid Valley’s volunteer groups who are not only doing their bit for the environment but also encouraging more of us to do our bit too.
The VGS groups, the Friends of Glen Goyle, the Sidmouth Cycling Campaign and the Cherishing Sidmouth Cemeteries project will be showcasing what they’ve been up to in various corners of the Valley.
“From helping to install memorial benches in a ‘secret garden’, to doing a safe cycle school run with local residents, to having the Scouts help clear brambles,” says a spokesperson for the VGS, “It’s all about trying to make Sidmouth a little more green and pleasant.”
The ‘big event’ at the AGM though will be the handing out of the Sustainable Sidmouth Champions Awards for 2025, which this year focusses on the huge amount of activity of the Eco Hub Sidmouth, launched a year ago by Bernie Davis.
Monthly sessions of the Hub over the year have included looking at food, recycling, active travel, energy and biodiversity. As the VGS spokesperson says, “We’d very much like to recognise all those groups and individuals who have given their time and energy to making the Eco Hub Sidmouth such a success.”
In measuring that success, Bernie says: “I remember a woman saying, ‘I’m so glad you are here doing this.’ and a 4-year-old boy gleefully exclaiming, after he had made his ladybird badge, ‘I love this!’ I recall a photo of a whole family studying animal poo samples and debating which animal had produced which poo!”

Many of those who have been so active and involved in the Eco Hub Sidmouth will be at the Champions Awards ceremony, which will celebrate their efforts and hear some of their stories.
The VGS AGM and Eco Hub Awards will be held at the Leigh Browne Room at the Dissenters’, opposite Sidmouth Hospital, on Friday 21st November, starting 6.30 and finishing at 8pm, with all members of the public invited to come along and take part.
