Showcasing sustainable sports clubs: Sidmouth Rugby

A lot of local sports groups have been doing their bit for the environment.

In the first profile of such groups, we look at how Sidmouth Rugby Club is doing.

This is their list on the Plastic Warriors website:

We have paper straws; wooden drink stirrers; reusable branded plastic glasses; use Devon contract waste (zero to landfill, recycle everything possible); get our milk (and gin) from the Dairy Shop (no plastic)!

Over the years, the Rugby Club has taken further initiatives.

A decade ago they and their colleagues at the Golf Club (to be featured later…) declared they were “working at the grass roots to make sure the games survive in the local community by welcoming young people and providing sound sustainable facilities for the future.”
